Music For Winds

Four Cinematic Scenes

Orchestration: Large Wind Ensemble.

Film music is usually written precisely to match on screen action. It helps amplify our emotions towards what we are seeing on the movie screen. Music usually conjures up a visual image for listeners even without a specific movie playing in front of us. With this piece, let your mind wander free and see what images the music calls to mind as you listen. I had some ideas in mind when I wrote it, perhaps you'll see something completely different?

Light The Beacons!

Orchestration: Large Wind Ensemble.

A Rousing Super Hero style concert opener or perfect encore piece, this is the final movement of 4 Cinematic Scenes and makes for a thrilling standalone piece. Great melodies and an inspiring ostinato keeps all sections of the band playing throughout!

Arrangement : Returning Home by John Barry

Orchestration: Wind Ensemble.

Eternal Echoes is John Barry’s final solo album, released in 2001. Returning Home is a simple wistful melody. In this Grade 3 band arrangement, the melody is played initially as a solo line by Eb Alto Sax, then by Trumpet and after a tutti climatic section, the piece is closed out by a repeat of the melody, this time on clarinet. Free.
